My Approach

The core of my approach is rooted in culturally responsive and attuned care. I emphasize the realities of systemic and racial injustice as factors that influence not only our mental health, but our entire lives. I welcome conversations about the impact these topics have on your identity and current challenges. My hope is to create space for your voice to be heard and support you in understanding your story.

My approach draws on various modalities and is dependent on the specific needs of the individual. No two people are the same and I value creating specialized treatment plans that will align with your goals. Generally, I operate from a strengths based and humanistic approach focusing on values, fostering resiliency, and making meaningful discoveries and changes in your life. I also find that some folks benefit from a more structured treatment plan, drawing on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approaches to understand the relationships between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Many of my clients have benefitted from integrating mindfulness into our treatment plan in supporting ones capacity to be more present in every aspect of life.

What to expect

In our first sessions, we will start to get to know each other and establish a therapeutic relationship. I will ask questions about what is bringing you into therapy, your history, and what makes you the person you are today. I find it helpful to discuss the values and beliefs my clients hold to identify therapeutic goals and ways of achieving success within those goals. We will start to discuss a treatment plan and continue to check in on your goals throughout our next few sessions.
